The SONGS: LOVE'S WITNESS
Ryan's battle with a life-limiting medical condition makes caring for him a tremendous challenge. Even so, there is a sense of joy in every step that CK and his family members take. "He's a very strong boy and a cheeky one too. We are really proud of him!" says CK who is inspired by his son's indomitable spirit. CK takes his lead from dad whom he says is a devoted husband, a pillar of honesty and integrity, a man who is always willing to help. It's no wonder then how they've managed to look far beyond Ryan's prognosis and enjoy the days as one happy family.
That afternoon was not about camera angles, lighting or anything that I could offer. I felt that I was there to simply bear witness to two fathers and their sons bound together by a sacrificial love. Standing in the studio, I was reminded of a portion of scripture that goes, "Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends". It was indeed a privilege to have made a picture of just that.
